Training for Teachers
IntelliSense® Professional Development supports and encourages teachers to reflect on their own teaching practice. By analyzing and applying new knowledge and skills to their personal professional goals, teachers will increase their effectiveness. Our objective is to help organize communities of teachers to:
- Support instructional improvement to meet district goals and objectives
- Improve understanding of research-based methodology
- Apply brain-compatible instructional strategies for literacy training
- Enhance student growth and performance in reading, writing, and spelling
The Intellisense Professional Development model provides teacher training in an interactive workshop format. Training is designed to inspire teacher confidence and assist them in becoming exceptional reading teachers, to encourage teamwork, and to promote a sense of professionalism among Pre-K through fifth grade teachers.
Options for professional development include:
- Classroom visits and demonstrations of best practices for reading instruction
- Personal coaching
- Organization of study groups to evaluate reading research and information

Workshops
IntelliSense Phonics – A Top Secret Teacher’s Guide: Teaching Students to Crack the Code
This two-day workshop fulfills the 10-hour requirement for reading renewal credit when approved by schools and school districts. The training will provide the teachers with an understanding of the variety of multisensory methods of teaching literacy in Pre-K through fifth grade classrooms. The workshop is presented to PreK-first-grade teachers; second- and third-grade teachers; fourth-grade teachers; and fifth-grade teachers. The workshop emphasizes current brain-compatible methodologies and scientifically-based instructional practices to teach reading, writing, and spelling. Participants will be able to identify the cognitive processes involved in reading and what factors contribute to successful reading instruction. They will learn to use a multisensory methodology to address all learning styles of their students.
Intellisense Phonics meets research-based criteria for teaching phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

IntelliSense Parent Partnerships
IntelliSense training for parents and children in Pre-K through first grade provides parents all they need to know about research-based literacy and gives them practical strategies for helping their child solve the reading puzzle. We organize ten hours of fun and playful training for parent groups. In addition, IntelliSense workshop leaders will make an IntelliSense visit to individual students’ classrooms to share with the child’s class the latest in investigator gadgets. Small parent classes allow for lots of individual attention. Our unique parent program:
- Captures children’s imagination, increases reading readiness skills, and bolsters children’s confidence and self-esteem
- Generates children’s interest and participation
- Uses props and games to make learning to read fun
- Capitalizes on children’s individual learning styles
